Preparations for Rann Utsav 2026–27 have gained momentum in Kutch, with the district administration focusing on improving tourist facilities, strengthening security arrangements and maintaining cleanliness at key tourism destinations, including the White Rann at Dhordo, Road to Heaven and Dholavira.
A meeting of the Rann Utsav District Core Committee was held at Dhordo on October 16 under the chairmanship of Kutch District Collector Anil Ranavasiya. During the meeting, the Collector reviewed preparations for the upcoming festival, assessed the responsibilities assigned to various government departments and issued instructions to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for tourists visiting the region.
Separate Teams to Manage Key Tourist Destinations

The district administration has established dedicated teams to coordinate arrangements at the White Rann in Dhordo, Road to Heaven and the Dholavira site. The teams will work with the concerned departments to improve coordination, ensure visitor convenience and oversee the management of these popular tourist destinations.
Special attention was given to Road to Heaven and the Dholavira area, which attract tourists from across India and abroad. The administration emphasised the need for effective security arrangements, regular patrolling and proper traffic management to ensure the safe movement of visitors.
The meeting also reviewed traffic-related arrangements at Road to Heaven, with officials directed to coordinate their efforts for the orderly management of tourist movement.
Tent City, Resorts and Tourist Facilities Reviewed

As part of the preparations, the Collector reviewed facilities available at the Tent City and Gateway to Rann Resort. He also visited important locations, including the White Rann View Point, the cultural programme stage, the craft market and the game zone, to assess the arrangements for visitors.
The administration stressed that facilities at these locations must be maintained properly throughout the festival. The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation’s arrangements for transporting passengers to the White Rann View Point were also reviewed.
Officials were instructed to ensure that tourists can access the attractions conveniently and receive appropriate assistance during their visits.
Focus on Cleanliness and Environmental Protection

Maintaining cleanliness and protecting the fragile environment of the region emerged as key priorities during the meeting.
The Collector directed officials to ensure that plastic waste and other garbage do not accumulate in the Road to Heaven and Dholavira areas. He emphasised round-the-clock attention to cleanliness and the scientific disposal of solid waste during the festival.
The administration also instructed officials to remain vigilant against unauthorised encroachments in tourist areas and to take prompt action to remove them if identified.
These measures are intended to maintain the appeal of Kutch’s tourism destinations while ensuring that increasing tourist activity does not compromise cleanliness and environmental standards.
Internet, Roads, Sanitation and Emergency Assistance
The review covered several essential services required for the smooth conduct of Rann Utsav. These included uninterrupted BSNL internet connectivity, maintenance of sanitation facilities, electricity supply, road construction and repairs, and the maintenance of law and order.
The administration also discussed the establishment and functioning of tourist help desks, mechanisms for addressing visitor complaints and queries, and the need to provide appropriate guidance to travellers.
Transport-related arrangements, including prescribed fares for camel-cart services and other visitor transport, were also reviewed. Officials were directed to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and maintain an organised transport system.
In addition, the Collector emphasised strict adherence to safety standards for adventure sports and the need for proper coordination among departments responsible for tourist services and public safety.
